How can my specialty make the world a better place?

Everyone at some point in our lives has a fear that floods us, a fear that does not let us sleep and one of my biggest fears was deciding that I want to do the rest of my life. Choosing my university career was difficult, this particular profession faces dozens of criticisms, is immersed in prejudices and stereotypes, and they are scary things, perhaps because we are used to living in a society that judges and categorizes everything, but always my desire to educate was greater. For me in particular, educating and teaching is something like giving up a piece of the world, it's having the power and tools to open children's eyes through love and respect, and that they have the opportunity to explore their environment and themselves freely and safely, that they can be curious, noisy and and happy. In my life I guess I was lucky to surround myself with people who supported and accompanied me on this path of life, so, along with luck, I think it was the same destiny that surrounded me with teachers, who inspired and advised me, from them I could always see the effort, responsibility and passion that this work entails. That is why I think it is brave, that we are brave when choosing Early Childhood Education, because we face fears, whether they are personal or social, same fears that are educated, to educate us and so that we can educate. And that's how I see myself on this learning path, as a brave woman who has the desire and passion to educate children and leave a mark on them, so that they leave a mark on the world. And likewise as my significant figures came into my life by the work of fate, in the lives of the children who arrived in mine, they also arrive, but it's not always so ideal, it's not always the ideal people, nor the best deals or values. Many times we do not know the totality of the reality of each child, we do not know well if they only had a bad day or have had a bad life, however, the child comes into the world perfectly programmed for happiness, so our mission as educators is to collect all the love, happiness and all the learnings and deliver them, so that they today and always seek their best days, his wife lives, so that they may work and think like transforming beings of the world. So from my point of view, my job as an educator is to educate and teach to children to be better people. My job is to weigh their reality and try to improve it day by day. They are the future of our society, that's why that today and the work I do every day affects how they will be in the future. If we educate respectful, aware and loving children, it is what our society will be like in the future, it is the world they will create.

The person who I admire

Hi, as you know, I'm studying Early Childhood Education and I wanted to tell you a little bit about how I felt about it. Usually a teacher carries with many responsabilities but without a doubt the most important is how you should act in a classroom, that is why I often inspire my behavior in some theoretical references that we have talked abuot in classes, the most important and influential for me is Emmi Pikler.

Well, speaking a little more about her, I can tell you that Pikler was born in Vienna on January 9, 1902 and unfortunately he left us on June 6, 1984, however, despite leaving this world physically, his ideas, approaches and theories remain intact to this day. She lived all his childhood in Budapest, and then returned to Vienna in the twenties to study medicine. Emmi returns to Budapest finishing his studies, concentrating on pediatrics in a hospital there, the same city where she meets the one who will be her husband and with whom she will form a family.

His main contribution as a pediatrician is to open the eyes of the world and show another conception of the child, positioning him as an active, competent and capable of initiatives, which leads families to be interested and committed to the autonomous motor development of the child and to recognize the importance of an activity self-induced and driven by the child himself. Pikler managed to work in hundreds of child care and education centers, but without a doubt the cradle-house on Lóczy Street is the most important of them, after the Hungarian government asked her to run the center, she and the other women who work there they devoted themselves absolutely to the physical, affective and mental well-being of children who lack the care of their own parents. It was so much the dedication and concern for children, that the center became the ideal place for children's research, since the results of the Pikler's methodologies and practices contributed strongly to the development of children's lives.

Today Pikler means a before and after in education and in parenting, she put on the table concepts such as "free movement", "stable relationship", "verbal and bodily communication", "autonomous play", "the attentions", "the role of the adult" and "the environment", generating a social impact to such an extent that many Chilean educational institutions take their name to elaborate curriculums and pedagogical practices. Emmi Pikler was great in her work, she left a mark on the past that remains intact and strong in the present and I have no doubt that it will also be in the future.

I hope you liked what I share with you today, I send you a hug.
